Fans should shed their hope of seeing Roman Reigns at WWE Fastlane.
Fastlane will take place on October 7th, 2023, at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse, and will be WWE’s seventh overall Fastlane event. It’ll be the first event of its name since 2021, and the first PLE in Indianapolis since Clash of Champions in 2016.
The promotional poster for the show promises a stacked card, featuring the likes of Cody Rhodes, Jey Uso, Bianca Belair, Seth Rollins, Rhea Ripley, Bobby Lashley, Asuka, and Becky Lynch. But notably missing is Undisputed Universal Champion Roman Reigns. His absence from the poster certainly makes it appear he won’t be working the event.
In somewhat of an update on the matter, a rumor has been circulating that neither Roman nor Brock Lesnar is scheduled for the event. According to a source with knowledge of the situation, they will not be scheduled for an appearance or in any capacity for the event.
Things may change, with SummerSlam the next event on the horizon this month. Brock Lesnar has been announced for a rubber match against Cody Rhodes. Roman Reigns, on the other hand, hasn’t been announced for the event but he is expected to defend the title against Jey Uso.
Uso became the first person in over three years to pin Reigns at Money in the Bank earlier this month. He has been adamant in his challenge for the Undisputed title during the SmackDown shows which have followed.
Fastlane will become the second PLE of the year that Roman has missed this year, following Backlash in May. In lieu of Roman, Jey, Jimmy Uso, and Solo Sikoa wrestled the team of Sami Zayn, Kevin Owens, and Matt Riddle in the main event of the night in Puerto Rico.
