Scarlett Johansson confirms Marvel project still in the works

Marvel films are some of the biggest productions in the movie industry. In 2023, Marvel released Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania and Guardians of The Galaxy Vol. 3. However, one of the iconic Marvel characters Black Widow, who is played by Scarlett Johansson, has not been on the big screen recently.

Johansson as Black Widow has been in nine films in the Marvel cinematic universe. She appeared as Natasha Romanoff for the first time in Iron Man 2, which was released in 2010. Her final appearance as Romanoff came in 2021 with her stand-alone Black Widow movie. However, it seems like Johansson is not done with Marvel as there is news of a project in the works

She sounds certain that she is done playing the character Black Widow. However, the door is open to returning to the Marvel cinematic universe in some fashion.

“It is still happening,” she said. “Right before the strike, we were in the middle of developing it, and now everything is at a simmer.”

This was in response to a question about a future Marvel mystery project. There is not much information regarding the project in general besides that both parties have worked together on something. Johansson was a huge part of the MCU as she was an Avenger. Furthermore, fans would be excited to see her back with the franchise in any way possible.

Ultimately, the writers’ strike has put any plans for Marvel and Johansson on pause. Marvel fans will have to keep an eye out for any new information on the situation.

Scarlett Johansson Continued

Johansson is fresh off of her role as Midge Campbell in the new Asteroid City film. This Wes Anderson was released on June 23 and it has received overall good reception. Johansson is keeping busy as she has finished playing Black Widow, but there is no timetable for her return to working with Marvel.

The Writers Guild of America, which represents around 11,500 screenwriters, started a strike on May 2. This strike is still going on and there is no definitive end to the strike in sight. Unfortunately, this strike will continue to affect future movie projects and fans will have to wait eagerly for certain projects. In regards to Marvel fans, they will have to wait for the strike to end before any further information between Scarlett Johansson and Marvel is released.
