Work on ‘Blade’ halts due to Writer’s Strike
As the fallout of last Tuesday’s continuing writer’s strike continues to play out, more and more projects across the Hollywood world are being impacted. From TV shows to movies, projects are having to be put on hold. Even the Marvel Cinematic Universe is not immune to the strike, with work on the upcoming reboot Blade now having to be halted, though this is just one of a number of problems the film has faced so far.
Another Stumbling Block:
Ever since Blade was first announced back in 2019, production has run into multiple problems and issues. From the movie’s first director leaving the project in 2022 to writers leaving the film before the strike was even called, Blade has been having a rough time trying to keep up with itself. But now with the writer’s strike, the movie might have to be delayed once more.
When Will Blade Finally Release?
While officially, the release date for the film is still set for September 6, 2024. With the writer’s strike potentially lasting for months, who knows when it will finally come out? The strike might also affect what priorities the MCU has going forward.
So will this writer strike by the end of Blade? Very unlikely, it’s doubtful that Marvel would completely throw away a project like this. However, it certainly won’t help the movie and could potentially result in a worse product.
Though issues and poor quality have largely been the fate of the cinematic branch of the franchise since the release of the sequel to the original Blade trilogy. Still, who knows, perhaps this new Blade movie will surpass expectations and give us a good quality film about the vampire-hunting hero.
But, for now, until the writer’s strike ends, Blade will have to be shelved.
