Nick Chubb Fantasy Owners Shouldn’t Worry About Kareem Hunt

Nick Chubb is so disrespected it’s unbelievable. Chubb is easily one of if not the best running back in the NFL. What’s not to like? The Georgia tailback is averaging over 5.0 yards per carry in his first 2 NFL seasons. If the Browns would have had more leads a year ago, he probably would have been the rushing champ. Chubb is coming off a 1,494 yard season. He’s as good as it gets. Yet, when it comes to fantasy, there seems to be a thorn in the side that some people should worry about.

That man is Kareem Hunt. There is no denying that Hunt is a fantastic player. He would start for a number of teams. When it comes to fantasy, it’s fair to at least worry about Hunt eating into Chubb’s workload. However, you probably shouldn’t worry too much. Chubb is still a monster and will continue to produce.

Yes, Hunt ate into Chubb’s workload. BUT.. the split wasn’t super drastic.

The only real difference was the receiving aspect. Basically chalk it up to the Browns trading Duke Johnson. If the Browns didn’t sign Hunt, Johnson would have been in this role. Hunt averaged 5.5 targets, 4.6 receptions, and 35.6 receiving yards during those final 8 games. That won’t change. Chubb is going to be primarily a runner.

Chubb was amazing last year. I think there’s a chance he’s even better even if Hunt plays the full season. Cleveland should have more leads. That’s a start. That roster is too good not to even if Baker Mayfield is bad again. That’s the biggest thing. Kevin Stefanski comes from the Gary Kubiak tree. You always trust his Kubiak’s backs in fantasy. The situation is much better.

A run first offense is coming. Stefanski is going to turn Mayfield into Kirk Cousins. Chubb will be the Dalvin Cook in this offense. Let’s also forget, it’s an improved offensive line. Jedrick Wills and Jack Conklin are the new tackles. Austin Hooper is a good blocking tight end. Cleveland even picked up full back Andy Janovich. If Chubb averaged 5 yards per carry with an average offensive line and bad coaching, what will he do with a good offensive line and better coaching?

Nick Chubb fantasy owners don’t have much to worry about. Yes, the Browns will find a way to suck and their uniforms are hideous. Chubb is as good as it gets and should be a fantasy stud all season barring injury.
