Under Maintenance
We deeply apologize for interrupting your reading but Vendetta is currently undergoing some important maintenance! You may experience some layout shifts, slow loading times and dififculties in navigating.
Sports Media
The Athletic accomplished their goal. They have finally killed a newspaper! Well, they sort of became one and killed the newspaper that they’re now a part of but that’s beside the point! Major sports media news just went down. The New York Times is totally disbanding its sports division. They will rely on The Athletic, whom they own, for its sports content.
“The New York Times is disbanding its sports department, a team of more than 35 journalists and editors. For both online and print, the paper will instead rely on sports coverage from The Athletic, which the New York Times bought for $550 million in January 2022.”
This is still a developing story and we don’t have all of the details yet. However, as of right now, it doesn’t appear that there will be any layoffs. The writers that cover sports will either head over to The Athletic or transition into a different department at The Times.
Front Office Sports also tweeted something out that I just find hilarious. You can’t make it up.

Let’s also make one thing clear. This doesn’t happen unless they’re losing money. The great con job continues and kills everything in its path. Kill as in goes bankrupt and dies. The NYT sports division is dead. I guess that’s what you get for investing in a garbage product that nobody intelligent wants to pay for. Keep in mind, this news comes just one year after they bought The Athletic for $550 million. They will now hope their readers transition over there while paying a subscription fee to do it. This won’t end well.
It’s the end of an era. Vendetta Sports remains the future.
