Tyler Herro is ‘telling people’ that Heat are trading him away

The Miami Heat have been in a spiral during free agency. Rumors suggest that the Heat are trying to acquire superstar point guard Damian Lillard through a trade If they trade him, they will probably send Herro to Portland in return. With this rumor, Herro is now ‘telling people’ that the Heat are trading him away, according to the New York Post.

“Tyler Herro believes he’s going to get traded,” Heat insider Ethan Skolnick said on the “Five on the Floor” podcast. “I can say that, okay, that that’s what he’s been telling people. He’s expecting to be traded. We don’t expect it to be a two-team trade if it ends up happening.

“There’s going to be a third team involved. We thought it would be the [San Antonio] Spurs. Everything seems to be leaning towards the Nets more as a more legitimate possibility right now. They did sign Lonnie Walker, but I heard that that won’t preclude them from doing anything as far as going for Herro.”

This free agency, the Heat have been on high alert for Lillard, even letting some of their key role players from last season leave in free agency. Gabe Vincent and Max Strus, two key role players in the Heat’s championship run, left Miami. Could this be to clear cap space for Lillard? Who knows?

Miami selected Herro with the No. 13 overall pick in the 2019 NBA draft. Herro has been a key player for the Heat ever since he stepped on the court for them. Boy Wonder has averaged over 13 points per game for the Heat since entering the league, including over 20 points per game the last two seasons.

Herro’s destination is unclear for now, but with Lillard now requesting a trade and the Trailblazers drafting Scoot Henderson, Lillard to Miami could be coming soon.
