Ryan Fitzpatrick Wants To Be Tua’s ‘Biggest Cheerleader’

How many games is Tua Tagovailoa going to play as a rookie? I don’t think anybody has an answer to that question yet. What is clear is that he couldn’t ask for a better mentor. Harvard grad Ryan Fitzpatrick who has been in the NFL forever is as good as it gets when it comes to learning behind a veteran. Fitzy spoke out today about the situation.

Fitzpatrick recently went on Eric Wood’s podcast whom he was a teammate with in Buffalo. His answer wasn’t super surprising:

“I’m his biggest cheerleader right now, but I also want to be out there playing,” Fitzpatrick said, via the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. “I also want to be on the field, and that’s why I’m still doing it is because I still enjoy playing the game. Hopefully some of the lessons I’m able to teach him are him watching me play, but if it’s the other way around I’m going to do my best to help him succeed the best way he can.”

Personally, I wouldn’t play Tua at all this year. Let Ryan Fitzpatrick play the entire season. This is still a bad offensive line and bad roster. There’s no reason to let Tua see the field. Let Houston stink and collect another high draft pick. Then again, the AFC East is really bad. It’s honestly not out of the question they win the division with Tua under center.

You wouldn’t expect any other answer from Ryan Fitzpatrick. He’s going to be the pro’s pro. You knew that. Fitzpatrick will embrace the Alabama product. I would guess he will start the season and we’ll see what happens from there. Who knows, maybe Fitzpatrick goes on a run and wins some games.
