Cameron Johnson Signs Four-Year, $108 Million Deal With Nets

Cameron Johnson has signed an extension with the Brooklyn Nets. This was first reported by Woj on Twitter.

Cameron Johnson will be back with the Brooklyn Nets on a four-year, $108 million deal. This is a huge raise for Cameron Johnson, one of the NBA’s rising players. After being traded to the Nets last year as part of the Kevin Durant deal, The Brooklyn Nets liked what they saw in Cameron Johnson and extended his contract for four more years.

Cam Johnson posted a 16.6 PPG on 46.8% shooting, 2.1 APG, and 4.8 RPG stat line for the Nets in the 25 games that he played for them. Although the sample size is small, he was more productive with the Nets than the Suns. He will continue to try to be one of the Net’s biggest contributors this season. Although, he might not have that much of a choice given the contract that he was given. He must play up to his contract, if not better, for this to be a smart deal for the Nets.

I personally don’t like this deal for the Nets, I like Cam Johnson, but the sample size is too smal to get this big of a contract for that long. He’s getting paid $27 million a year, do you think he has earned that much, much less for 4 years? I could understand if he was getting paid that much for 2 years or even 1 year. That rewards Cameron Johnson for his production and gives you a low-risk contract to get out of if it doesn’t pan out. Now, it has to pan out or it’s just a bad deal. The ball is in Cam Johnson’s court now, let’s see what he does with it.
