Max Kellerman Is Fired By ESPN

I think we knew this day was coming from the moment ESPN took Max Kellerman off of First Take. Does ESPN value anyone that doesn’t mesh with Stephen A Smith? Seriously, Stephen A could take a literal dump on the desk of First Take and he would get a raise. With that said, two years after leaving First Take, Kellerman is now leaving ESPN entirely.

VIA NY Post:

“ESPN has let go Max Kellerman and Keyshawn Johnson, The Post has learned.”

“Kellerman and Johnson are part of the roughly 20 personalities who are being informed that their time on ESPN is done, beginning Friday as the network is cutting payroll.”

“Kellerman was making in the $5 million-a-year neighborhood.”

“Kellerman’s arc at ESPN headed in the wrong direction after Stephen A. Smith decided that he wanted to change the debate format of his morning show, “First Take.”

“Smith essentially jettisoned Kellerman in favor of a variety pack of verbal opponents, which has led to folks like Christopher “Mad Dog” Russo, Marcus Spears and JJ Redick, taking on Smith.”

We’ll get to Keyshawn Johnson in a separate post. I promise we’ll have a chat about it.

There really isn’t much more to say on Kellerman. If Stephen A doesn’t like you that means ESPN doesn’t like you. It was always the beginning of the end. Plus, it’s not like Kellerman has these elite takes that are must see. He’s really talented at talking boxing but not much else beyond that. That’s the truth.

Kellerman left First Take toward the latter portion of 2021. He was then placed on ESPN Radio’s morning program with Johnson and Jay Williams. He also had his own show that I never knew existed called “This Just In.”. That’s half the problem.

We’ll see what Kellerman does next. He’ll get a job somewhere. Maybe he can actually help bring boxing back because that sport is dead compared to MMA.
