Moise Kean in hot water again

When Everton spent $27.5 million on Moises Kean last summer most fans reacted with surprise. Not necessarily on Everton’s side as it was seen as a good signing, but the fact that Juventus were willing to sell and at such a reasonable price given today’s market came as a shock. There had to be more to it. And there was.

Only one goal in twenty-three appearances is not what the Merseyside club had hoped for given his reputation at Juventus as a strong, physical and fast striker with seven goals in sixteen outings. However, the most worrying part is the fact he’s only started 17% of games since his arrival. It’s definitely too early to call him a flop but earning nearly $100k a week there is no doubt a turnaround will be expected.

That is why the news this week that the club has fined him two weeks’ wages for breaking social distancing guidelines comes as somewhat of a shock. Instead of knuckling down and preparing for either a return to this season or next, Kean filmed himself having a party at his apartment. He then sent the videos to a private Snapchat group which ended up being released to the English media.

The club released a statement stating they were “appalled to learn of an incident in which a first-team player ignored Government guidance and club policy in relation to the coronavirus crisis.”

This isn’t the first time Moise Kean has upset the upper management at Goodson Park. He was dropped for a game against Southampton in November after turning up late for training, the second time he had done so. These attitude problems could indicate why Juventus were willing to part ways with the striker despite his obvious potential.

Kean isn’t the only player receiving the wrath of their clubs by breaking government guidelines. Kyle Walker is waiting on disciplinary action from Manchester City after hosting a party with two sex workers while Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish was pictured at a car accident after going to “see a friend”.
