The Panthers released Cam Newton on March 24th. The former number one overall pick in 2011 still doesn’t have a team as I’m writing this. With corona going on, it doesn’t feel like any team is in a rush to sign Cam Newton either. Cam is currently in no mans land and says he feels like a ‘fish out of water’.
“It’s so much possibility for me right now, but the fact that this corona situation has hit, I’m not a person to blame or do any of that things, man, it’s business,” Newton told Paul, via video from Sheena Paul of 1340AM Fox Sports. “But at the same time, I think I have been affected in a lot of ways, and it’s just [unfortunate], but yeah, at the end of the day, man, I’m going to let the ball play how it play, man, and go from there.”
“I’m a fish out of water. I’ve never not known anything other than the Carolina Panthers, and now it’s like I want God to direct my path and put me in a position where I can thrive and be myself. But on top of that, it’s still [about] becoming better.”
When I read this story, it’s impossible to think anything other than this:
Okay, back to Cam, I really don’t know where he’s going to land. I’ve tried to think of some possible landing spots but it’s difficult to think of a spot that makes sense. We don’t know if he’s even healthy. The team I still think makes the most sense for Cam or Jameis Winston is Pittsburgh given the fact that we don’t know which Big Ben we’re getting next year either.
