Does Marshawn Lynch Have Anything Left In The Tank?

The Seattle Seahawks were decimated by injuries during Week 16 loss to Arizona. Both Chris Carson and CJ Prosise were lost to season ending injuries. Seattle had quite the backup plan. They went back to the well of former Seahawks. First, Robert Turbin was signed. Then the big bad wolf. Beast Mode is back. The Seahawks signed Marshawn Lynch for the rest of the season.

Adam Schefter first reported the news:

The question is whether Marshawn Lynch has anything left? Lynch, 33, only played 6 games with Oakland in 2018. The good news is you know what you’re getting with Beast Mode. He will bring physicality and you might die trying to tackle him. Does Lynch have something left? Well, based on 2017 and 2018, he probably does.

The former first round pick out of Cal in 2007, averaged 4.3 YPC in 2017 and 4.2 YPC in 2018. Both of those are respectable numbers. With Lynch, I think you worry about him being in shape more than anything. Then again, you have to think Lynch is fresh. He hasn’t taken a snap since Week 6 of 2018. Running backs get beat up. Lynch has had a long time to recover. He’s going to be ready to tout the rock for the last few weeks of the season.

Losing Chris Carson blows. He’s a huge part of Seattle’s team. The Seahawks are a run first team. If Marshawn Lynch can keep that 4 YPC carry average, the Seahawks might not lose much, if anything at all. Carson lost 7 fumbles on the season which is an absurd amount. Beat Mode sure as hell isn’t putting the ball on the ground. Sneaky Seattle never ceases to amaze me. Lynch will help them.
