Watching Madison Bumgarner Sign With The Diamondbacks Is So Stupid

Madison Bumgarner signed with the Arizona Diamondbacks on a 5 year contract worth $85 million. My question is why? Better yet, this is just so stupid. I already know how this story goes and I’m better off going on a real castaway journey and then coming back to find out that nothing happened. Nothing entertaining anyway. Watching Madison Bumgarner sign with Arizona sucks for baseball.

Some teams are just better off going away. Maybe that’s a little harsh. Some teams are better off just hiding in the shadows and doing whatever they do. The Diamondbacks don’t deserve Mad Bum. This is a franchise that signed Zack Greinke to a record breaking contract only to trade him a few years later. What was the point of that? This is a franchise that had Paul Goldschmidt and traded him. It was great watching Goldy just toil away in Arizona to never win anything. This is a franchise that had Patrick Corbin. They let him walk. Why would I want to watch Bumgarner in Arizona? That does less for me than watching paint dry.

I just don’t understand. Arizona won 85 games in 2019 and finished 21 games out of first. Now the word on the street is they’re going to trade Robbie Ray to clear space for Bumgarner. What is the point? This isn’t a World Series contender with or without Madison Bumgarner. Now Arizona is handing out deferred money just to watch their team get 3rd or whatever. This is so stupid.

If you’re Madison Bumgarner, why would you even want to sign with the D-Backs? What’s the point? We have the formula. Win 80 games, find yourself on the trade block a year later. Don’t you want to go back to the postseason? Arizona sure as hell isn’t getting you there. Zack Greinke already did this. It doesn’t work. Oh, by the way, Arizona is still paying for Greinke too.

I just hate this. I want to watch Mad Bum pitch in the postseason. We just can’t have nice things apparently. Now I get to shake my head in disappointment until the D-Backs trade him when they realize they aren’t close to winning it. What a waste of time.
