Major League Baseball finally decided that marijuana does not belong on the list of banned substances. Major league and minor league players can no longer be suspended for smoking some pot. That’s a great thing. Now we just need the NFL to follow.
Jerry Jones actually gave a statement that suggested the NFL could be coming closer to not testing for marijuana.
“I think that you should expect and will expect an adjustment” of the league’s prohibition on marijuana use, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said Friday on 105.3 The Fan in Dallas, via Michael Gehlken of the Dallas Morning News.
Here’s hoping to the NFL will actually do the right thing (for once). The NFL is a contact sport. If players can resort to marijuana instead of opioids, wouldn’t that be a hell of a lot better? Instead, the NFL has villainized so many players. For really no reason. Now I get it when it comes to the combine. That is almost an idiot test. But when it comes to not testing it for games? The NFL needs to do what MLB is doing.
I can’t believe MLB of all sports is out in front of this one. Baseball players just have to watch out that they aren’t taking the wrong sex enhancement pills. I just hope the owners don’t wage something like this over the players association.
This can’t be a bargaining chip. Just do the right thing NFL. More and more states are fully legalizing pot. It’s only a matter of time before it’s legalized across the country anyway. It’s been far too long already and the “war on drugs” was a total con job to begin with.
