Don’t Ask Stephon Gilmore To Swap Jerseys With You

Stephon Gilmore is arguably the best cornerback in football right now. You’re just better off throwing the ball to the opposite side of the field. On the season, Gilmore is allowing a 1-6 TD to INT ratio on the season. Gilmore isn’t just good. He’s also competitive as hell. Don’t ask Stephon Gilmore to swap jerseys at the end of the game. He will have none of it.

“I never change (jerseys) with receivers,” Gilmore told “Zolak & Bertrand,” as aired on NBC Sports Boston. “I just don’t. It’s not in my mind, it’s not in my DNA. I just can’t do it.”

I love this move. Nobody is more vindictive and revengeful than I am. Gilmore is out here creating enemies on and off the field. He doesn’t have time to hang your jersey up in his house. You’re not good enough to go on his wall anymore. I’m automatically a Gilmore fan.

This is how dominant Gilmore has been. When the Pats play Dallas, Amari Cooper was targeted twice. It resulted in one pick for Gilmore and another incompletion. Odell Beckham was held to 52 yards. Robby Anderson was held to 21 yards in two combined games. He’s been a stone cold killer all season.

Gilmore is a true number one corner and this Patriots defense needs to keep playing at an elite level if they’re going to repeat as champs this year. The offense looks dreadful and this defense has been carrying them all year. This may be a 2016 Broncos situation with Peyton Manning on his last legs where the defense carried him. Tom Brady looks cooked. If the Patriots are going to win this year, it’s guys like Gilmore who will have to carry the day.
