You’re An Idiot If You Pass On Tua Tagovailoa

The 2020 NFL Draft is going to be here before you know it. The question everyone wants to know is who is the top quarterback available? Is it Joe Burrow, Justin Herbert, or Tua Tagovailoa? Maybe some like Jacob Eason or Jake Fromm? Here’s what I know. Go ahead, blow your load on Joe Burrow. You’re an idiot if you pass on Tua Tagovailoa.

Tua was my top ranked quarterback coming into the year. He’s going to remain that way regardless of what he does the rest of the season. Alabama losing to LSU certainly does not change that. I’ve been on the record for calling Tua left handed Russell Wilson. If you know me, I don’t throw around compliments too often either. I’m probably the harshest quarterback critic out there because the truth of the matter is so many of these quarterbacks are never worth your time. Tua Tagovailoa is a gold jacket guy.

Don’t get me wrong, what Joe Burrow is doing is great. Let’s also keep in mind he couldn’t beat out Dwayne Haskins at Ohio State who has shown he isn’t ready for the NFL yet. Burrow is a year and a half older than Tua. Tagovailoa has a much larger sample size of success. Joe Burrow frankly wasn’t even a draftable prospect a year ago. Burrow’s new offensive coordinator clearly has helped him. Tua puts up numbers regardless of who is calling plays. He’s killing it with drunk dummy Steve Sarkisian right now for crying out loud. You can think whatever you want. You’re going to look very stupid if you think Joe Burrow is better than Tua Tagovailoa. It’s really not close if we’re being honest.

Say whatever you want about Trent Dilfer, he’s done a really great job putting together the high school Elite 11 camps. They’re a valuable asset grading quarterbacks coming into college. Dilfer has been doing this camp for an extended period of time. He called Tua the greatest prospect he’s ever seen.

“I don’t even think it’s a conversation. I think Tua is the single best prospect I have ever studied in my years of doing it,” Dilfer said, later adding that the Crimson Tide quarterback “has the chance to be a generational type talent in the NFL and go down as one of the better quarterbacks that’s ever played in the NFL.”

I also want to point out the fact that Cowherd clearly read my Mitch Trubisky article from two years ago. “Front leg thrower ball dies”. Yeah, I said that, nobody else. Next time it would be nice to credit me instead of taking it.

Moving on. It’s hard to disagree with Dilfer. Both Burrow and Tagovailoa have been great this year. That’s not a question. Tua has thrown for 2,584 total yards, 31 touchdowns, and 3 interceptions. Burrow sits at 3,198 passing yards, 33 touchdowns, and 4 interceptions. Both have been great. I’ll keep saying this because it needs to be said. Tua’s ability to read his progressions are next level. There’s no way he fails. It’s almost robotic good. Burrow needed Joe Brady to come in and set up a spread system where he can clear the decks and find the right matchup. Often times never needs to look for his second or third guy.

You have to be a lunatic to pass on Tua Tagovailoa. Don’t do it. Thank me later. This one is just too easy. Tua is the best quarterback in the draft. If you think otherwise, it’s probably because you’re not smart or don’t know how to scout.
