Marcus Morris Praised For “Unbelievable” Leadership By David Fizdale

Marcus Morris is a power forward of the New York Knicks this year. Although he should have been on the San Antonio Spurs after initially agreeing to a deal verbally, he rescinded and signed with the Knicks. Why a guy would take 5 million more dollars to be on a losing team is beyond me, but maybe I am just salty. On the Knicks though, Marcus Morris is being praised for his “Unbelievable” leadership by New York Knick’s Head Coach David Fizdale. As reported by SNY:

“His leadership has been unbelievable,” Fizdale said. “I just didn’t know that about him going into it. I knew he was a tough guy, and I knew he could play. The way he’s been leading has just been really unbelievable. One of the better leaders I’ve been around in this game. The way he approaches the guys, the way he never goes off on the guys, he just always kind of calls it for what it is. He never does it where he’s pointing fingers. He always owns it first and then tries to make sure he’s leading the group.”

Although this seems nice, THE KNICKS ARE STILL 1-5. Leadership only means so much if it hasn’t translated to wins. Granted, the season is still so young, but if something doesn’t change for better for the Knicks, it’ll seem like just another year for them. The Knicks had high hopes this offseason to get superstar free agents, and they whiffed on all of them. While Marcus Morris and Julius Randle are good finds for most teams, when you had as much money as the Knicks, this is just a bittersweet taste. Especially after trading Kristaps Porzingis for basically 2 first-rounders. The Knicks need to hope that leadership turns into wins or else it’s just another rebuilding year.
