Los Angeles Clippers 2020 Preview

Los Angeles Clippers

Whether you like it or not, the Los Angeles Clippers are the prohibitive favorites to win the NBA Championship. Get used to it. Barring injury, the Clippers are winning it. We now live in the upside down world of the NBA. The Lakers are overrated and the Clippers are title favorites. Never thought I would see the day, but here we are. Let’s check out what the Los Angeles Clippers are going to bring to the table as the season 2019-2020 season opens up?

Key Additions: Kawhi Leonard, Paul George, Maurice Harkless, Mfiondu Kabengele, Terance Mann

Anytime you add two top ten players in the NBA in one offseason, you did pretty well. That’s exactly what the Clips did. They also added two very good defenders on top of it all. Leonard has established himself as the best player on the planet. You can’t ask for a better sidekick than PG13. Mo Harkless is a nice bench piece. I’m also very high on the two Florida State rookies. I thought they were a very underrated collegiate team this past year. Kabengele may be the steal of the entire draft.

Key Departures: Danilo Gallinari, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander

Danilo Gallinari and Shai Gelgeous-Alexander both head to OKC as part of the Paul George acquisition. A price the Clippers had to pay to secure a championship. It is what it is. If anything, Gilgeous-Alexander was excess from the Blake Griffin trade. I think things worked out well in the end for the Clippers.

Potential Starting Lineup: Patrick Beverley, Landry Shamet, Kawhi Leonard, Paul George, Ivica Zubac

Talk about a unit right there. Defense, shooting, scoring ability, etc. This Clippers team has it all. I love Patrick Beverley. He’s the best pest in the league. Landry Shamet led all rookies in 3-point percentage last year. Ivica Zubac has established himself as a legit center. It’s a well balanced starting 5 that should carry them to a lot of wins. Seriously, good luck scoring on this team. It’s the one of the biggest advantages they have on everyone else.

I haven’t even gotten to the bench yet. They’re the best in the league too. The Lou Williams and Montrezl Harrell duo was about as lethal as it got a year ago. I think it takes the Clippers from great to unstoppable. The only thing that’s beating this Clippers team would be a serious injury bug.
