2025 Reese’s Senior Bowl: American Team Day 3 Practice Notes

That’s a wrap for the practices at the 2025 Reese’s Senior Bowl. We have day 3 practice notes coming in hot for the American Team. Sorry for no storytime today. Again, I’ll keep you updated when I do. Although, one last reminder that we have the film access this year and more content will follow. Think of this post as a flash takeaway from the Senior Bowl post sort of thing. Trey will also be making more Draft Busters appearances but that’s a story for another day. I’ll be talking plenty on the Senior Bowl whenever that recording happens.

Quarterback:

Getting to see more of Jaxson Dart warming up. People can blow this guy all you want. He’s an arm thrower. No drive off the back foot. His touch accuracy isn’t ideal and inconsistent because of it. The more I watch him the more he looks like Kenny Pickett. You can talk yourself into overdrafting him if you want but he probably belongs in the 3rd/4th/5th round. Dropped a snap fumbling it to the ground in shot gun. There are times he can definitely hit the guy on the move with a dot throw. Too hesitant getting the ball out to RJ Harvey during team period on what should have been a score.

Jalen Milroe is trash at taking snaps under center. It’s borderline painful to watch. Hit a wide open Bech in the team period. Arm power won’t be his issue. Making throws down the field also not his issue. He was better today but hard to look worse than he has been. Finally just doing the easy things right.

No idea what you’re accomplishing by drafting Riley Leonard. He’s athletic but he’s also a zero. If you watched he can only QB draw so what’s the point. When he tries to throw, it’s rarely on the mark.

Seth Henigan is a waste of time. He’s begging to give the ball to the other team. Hits the field goal cross bar on a throw that never had a prayer. Next play he gives it right to the Western Kentucky guy. Speed of the game is throwing him off. He’s not it. He’s putting me to sleep in team period. Just no spark running the offense.

Running Back:

Brashard Smith is doing well in the passing game stuff. Comfortable moving in space once he has the ball. Not quite sure how good of an actual running back he is yet. Definitely on the skinny side.

Trevor Etienne might be faster than you think. Jack Kiser wasn’t close to keeping up. Has the wiggle. Definitely can catch. Dude has serious cuts that are going to translate.

Devin Neal can’t separate in a route against South Carolina. He looks fine. Can sort of bend and get out of cuts.

Marcus Yarns speed for days. Can really get open. Even beat Mondon bad on a rep. None of these linebackers can keep up. Doesn’t matter who it is.

RJ Harvey just looks really good going through the bag drills. Quick feet. Knee bend has it. Blowing by Asante in pass coverage. He should run a decent 40 time. Has been catching the ball well.

Jarquez Hunter looks alright. Got open against Mondon. Not perfect but got about what I expected.

Wide Receiver:

Jamaal Pritchett has bad hands. Too many times he’s not attacking the ball and finishing the play. Haven’t been impressed.

Chimere Dike not impressive. Moves a lot to get nowhere. UCF put him in his back pocket. The worse UCF guy too.

Jack Bech short area wise he’s just so mediocre. He can make some plays and catch but he’s not pulling away from anyone.

Arian Smith showed he’s fast but we already knew that. Made a few plays against the worse competition.

Bru McCoy called it quits and dropped out. Can’t remember a single play he made. If he was there, he may as well have been a ghost.

Tight End:

I can’t express how much CJ Dipree sucks. He’s so bad that he’s giving the other team interceptions. It’s like he’s drunk. Tries to get open and creates more harm at the same time. Total waste of time. Send him home.

Offensive Line:

Emery Jones stone walls Princely. He’s been great all week. Looks like he was built in the lab. Prototype for what you’re looking for. You can just see his pass sets. Good kick back and gets himself in the right position at the start of each rep.

Other LSU guy won a rep against Sorrell. Maybe should give him more attention cause he has held his own too.

Willie Lampkin got bullied on maybe one rep. Otherwise he fought his tail off. Bill Parcells would have a stroke if you told him you were drafting him but he’s competed well.

Jacob Bayer clear win against Georgia. Has just done his job and held in there.

Jonah Savaiinaea looks the part. Strong base. Has strength and an anchor to him. Later had a duo block where neither Notre Dame or Georgia made any headway.

Defensive Line:

Shemar Stewart is done practicing which seems insane to call it quits after doing nothing in college and having like three strong practice reps but whatever.

Deone Walker also dropped out. We already went over his deal the last two days. We’ll see how the Combine goes.

Walter Nolen more of the same. Stupid first step. Lampkin had no answer for him. Went by him like he was a little girl. Looks like he got nicked up. Doesn’t really matter. We’ve seen what he’s capable of and his high end is scary.

Tim Smith ended the day well. Powered back Arizona who has been really good all week.

TJ Sanders is done practicing. Wasn’t here today.

Princely Umanmielen more of the same. Hope he benches because that’s his biggest question mark. Clearly has talent. Some of these duo blocks where other Ole Miss guys are involved, it makes you wonder how they lost. Good news is he looked good playing the run in team period. Killed it during team period. Winning in a multitude of ways too. Obviously bendy. Can spin.

Barryn Sorrell looked good again. Definitely had a sack in the team period.

Kyle Kennard Dropped out.

Jared Ivey looks versatile. Lining up inside and outside.

Count me in for Sai’vion Jones. That’s all I know. The length is a problem and it’s making the others around him in team period better. Seeing some double teams in that setting too. Has his arms in the way of passes too.

RJ Oben couldn’t beat Sacramento State. Bad sign because Sac State hasn’t been great.

Linebackers:

Eugene Asante has done well covering his college teammate. Has a gear to him. Made a PBU against Harvey who has been a stud all week.

Shemar James looks like he can cover. Did a really good job. Doesn’t look slow. Played ball in the air. Coming downhill quick in team period. This has been his day. Looks like he has some instincts.

Jack Kiser didn’t have a prayer covering Etienne. Left him in the dust. You can tell he lacks speed.

Mondon made a fantastic play on Harvey who most people haven’t covered. If you read the site you know I love this player. How about the rep covering Etienne to end the day. Dude oozes athletcism. Rare breed. Ran it back and covered him again but Etienne made a great catch in a fantastic battle. Impressed by the way he covered.

Cornerback:

Mac McWilliams looks like the better UCF cornerback here. Looks good bending and getting around in space. Did pretty well. May have to dig further here.

Maxwell Hairston gets a thumbs up. Was a plus pretty much the whole time.

Melvin Smith Jr. has no prayer keeping up with Arian Smith. Left him in the dust speed wise. 26 was lost for most of the time.

Safeties:

In terms of just moving around, Caleb Ransaw looks like a player. Ambidextrous apparently. Kinda got lost in the end zone against Nebraska. Just didn’t play the ball well. But moving fine.

Dan Jackson too. He’s more than held his own. Guy is competing. Just in these reps against Mason Taylor, he’s more than holding his own. Clean breakup on Bech in team period. Getting his hands on the ball a lot.

Billy Bowman almost came away with a pick covering Dipree.
