Vendetta Sports Media is dedicated to bringing you the best 2025 NFL Draft coverage on the internet. 2025 is almost here and New Year’s Eve features a ton of intriguing Bowl games with future NFL implications. Michigan beat Alabama 19-13 and we have plenty to talk about in this iteration of the 2025 NFL Draft Stock Report!
One thing to note. This game was played in Florida and it started pouring like crazy five minutes into the game. It certainly impacted things. It didn’t last the whole game though. The rain went hard and then fizzled out.
Alabama
Jalen Milroe decided to play in this one. Let’s first go over what we know leading up to the game. Arm power isn’t a question mark. Foot speed isn’t a question mark. Ability to progress through reads (when on schedule) has improved. He used to be a zero in the intermediate passing game. Now he’s an inconsistent off and on in that area. Kalen DeBoer deserves credit for that.
Didn’t look comfortable in the rain. First possession he fumbled the shotgun snap giving it right back to Michigan. Wink Martindale is a hell of a DC and fooled him bad on the possession right after. Stares down his guys too long. Still makes very bad decisions with the ball. Drop back pass game, how do you trust him at the NFL level? Strip sack right after on the next possession again staring at the same receiver TOO long.
For a guy that has arm power, WTF kind of duck was this?
That right there sums up Milroe all year. When he’s going, it’s really nice. When things go south, they keep going south and it gets UGLY fast. It’s like he needs the momentum because this dude has spiraled in several games now.
Pure accuracy not good enough either. Too many times he just can’t hit the check down and I gotta have those. Lacks touch on some of these too. Comes out with a flamethrower when it’s not necessary. Eye level stinks too. Speed him up and the eyes drop. Never makes the second play down the field through the air deep down the field.
Best thing Milroe had going for him was Michigan couldn’t score so he kept getting chance after chance without being left on the sidelines forever. Coaching staff didn’t trust him in the 2 minute drill before the half while trailing. Can you blame them at the rate he turns the ball over? Never seems to replicate what Michae Penix did last year layering balls over the middle of the field for chunk plays. Yes, they got a field goal out of it but started the drive with two straight runs and it took a run of his own to get it moving.
The part I don’t understand is that for as mobile as he is, the guy takes outrageous sacks. For his speed, I don’t understand how he allows that to happen. Has guys open too and not seeing it. He’s also a totally different guy trailing compared to in the lead. Dropback pass game from behind it’s ugly. He took five sacks, lost two fumbles, and threw an ugly pick all wrapped in one.
Game on the line. Need a ball in the end zone. This is what he does. It’s just hard to watch, man. Finished the game 16/32 for 192 yards, one touchdown, and one pick.
Milroe probably should go back to school. The only problem is, do you even want him back? When you consider that part, he’s probably going to declare. Maybe Tommy Rees deserves more credit for what he did the season prior. I have no idea how you take this guy in the first round. No clue. It’s a suicide mission. Right now he’s a developmental player that maybe can become more. We’ve seen enough.
Funny how Justice Haynes is essentially switching sidelines after transferring to Michigan. Got to see plenty of Jam Miller in this one. I’m not a Jam Miller guy. I never see a wow factor. There was a play in the first quarter where he went to make a cut and just fell over. Doesn’t have any real twitch to his game.
It would be one thing if he lacked that high end talent but was tough like Brian Robinson and carved his own path. I don’t even see that here. 10 carries for 27 yards of nothing. I would have liked to see more Richard Young but he only got two carries. He deserves more opportunity based on what Jam is providing.
Love Germie Bernard and don’t care who knows it. Ryan Williams was pretty much a non-factor but who cares. Bernard went for four for 80. I have no idea if he’s coming back to school or declaring but he’s a talent. Gets open and could have done more if Milroe played better.
Love Jihaad Campbell. I would imagine he’s going pro. Guy can run and when he tackles, you feel it. I’ve been praising the guy all year. He’s just an absolute menace. Plays with power and has a different gear to him. He left the game around the 7 minute mark in the 3rd. Looked to be shaken up. Didn’t look overly serious and got off the field on his own power. Still finished with a team high 11 tackles despite leaving early.
Cross CJ Dipree off your list. He’s awful. Not sure what he brings to the table. Caught one pass and immediately fumbled. Not a good mover either. He’s a zero. Not worth discussing. The other tight ends on the roster are just way better.
Zabien Brown has all the makings to be a future stud. Guy competes. Made the All-Freshman SEC team. Made this pick, which was a big part to turning the game around.
One quick hitters for the defense because there is no doubt they have NFL Bodies. Tim Kennan sure looks like the nose tackle for next year. Will be a senior. Michigan rushed for 2.3 YPC. Thought he was a factor clogging the middle.
Michigan
Important to note that the Michigan defense had a bunch of opt outs. This isn’t the Michigan defense Milroe faced when Jim Harbaugh was still there when they lost in the Bowl game last year. Derrick Moore was one of the few starters from the year who played. Two sacks and two TFLs in this one. Mason Graham and Kenneth Grant have taken up all the attention but maybe he’s a dude too. I need to see more there though. They sure got their fair share of sacks even with the opt outs.
Michigan struggled moving the ball, which wasn’t a surprise. The Bama defense is real too. Luckily for them, they got off to a great start. Looks like Davis Warren got hurt somehow. Once Alex Orgi took over in the third, it went downhill fast. Bama just has too many NFL bodies to only be a one dimensional offense. They’re both bad. Neither should even be considered for a preseason roster. Next year should be a totally different story.
Lots of Jordan Marshall today running the ball. Thought he looked fine? The Bama defense provided resistance. Had a few hard runs and a few others where it was meh. It was sure passable rushing for 100 yards on 23 attempts. We’ll see what happens next year. He was third string this year so this was his first real extended look.
No Colston Loveland but we did get to see freshy Hogan Hansen. The passing offense was non-existent so not sure it’s fair to judge right now. Frederick Moore reeled in a hell of a touchdown fighting off Zabien Brown who has a bright future himself. He didn’t do much all year but had three receptions for 37 yards and this score. Thought he looked alright after not doing much during the year. Could be a big part of the equation next year.
