We are over one-third of the way through the 2024 NFL Season! After another productive week, as we approach the midway point for most fantasy football regular seasons, who are a few breakout candidates to consider for Week 7? Let’s delve into a few candidates!
The Panthers have been a disaster this season, but he’s going up against a favorable matchup in the Commanders this week. Legette has been a top-25 receiver in fantasy formats just one out of the six weeks this season, totaling over 40 yards just twice. The Commanders’ defense against receivers is fifth-worst in yards allowed and second-worst in touchdowns allowed. Diontae Johnson should continue to command most of the volume, but I think Legette has the potential to have a breakout week, especially if Carolina falls behind early
The quarterback situation hasn’t helped, but Achane has been one of the most disappointing running backs each of the last three weeks. According to Fantasy Pros, he’s finished as the No. 37rd, 53rd and 56th best running back in standard formats. That’s a problem–a big problem. He hasn’t totaled more than 14 touches since Week 2. Coming off a bye against one of the NFL’s worst defenses against running backs, I am hopefully banking on Achane to progress back to the mean in terms of production.
Herbert has been a fringe QB3 through six weeks this season. This could be an opportune weekend to break out. Before his Week 5 bye, he failed to attempt more than 27 passes. Last week against Denver, he went 21-of-34 and will now go up against a much worse Cardinals secondary. Perhaps last week suggested a change in philosophy–he has to score more than 13 points this week … right?!?
