2024 College Football Games of the Week: Week 12

There are three weeks left of the 2024 college football season. This season has been great thus far and the expanded CFB Playoff will only make these last games more entertaining. There are only two ranked Vs ranked matchups this week but I believe it is a solid week of games. I think there are a lot of fun matchups, especially after all the upsets that happened last week. Finally, here are the 2024 college football games of the week for week 12.

Honorable Mentions: No. 1 Oregon @ Wisconsin, Arizona St @ No. 16 Kansas St, No. 25 Tulane @ Navy

5) No. 20 Clemson @ Pitt (12 noon, ET, ESPN/ESPN+)

These teams are trending in different directions. Clemson had a nice bounce-back win last week after their shocking upset loss to Louisville. On the other hand, Pitt has dropped two games in a row after starting 7-0. Now, these two 7-2 teams will take each other on in what would be a good game.

Both of these teams have high-powered offenses that can run the score up. However, Pitt QB Eli Holstein is questionable to play this week. Clemson is led by QB Cade Klubnik, who has had a strong 2024 season, but he will have his hands full with a tough Pitt pass rush. Also, Tigers’ RB Phil Mafah has a chance to run for over 100 yards for his third game in a row. This game should be fun as it is the best ACC matchup of week 12.

4) No. 23 Missouri @ No. 21 South Carolina (4:15 p.m. ET, SEC Network)

This game is your normal good not great SEC matchup in week twelve. This game does not involve the upper echelon SEC teams but this is one of the ranked vs ranked matchups of the week. These teams both have technical chances to make the CFB Playoff so there’s that as well. Missouri has been disappointing in big games this season yet they still have a chance to finish 10-2 on the year.

It appears Tigers’ QB Drew Pyne will start again as QB Brady Cook is questionable this week. This is not ideal for Missouri as South Carolina is one of the hottest teams in the country. The Gamecocks have won their last three and this game could be their second-ranked win in four weeks. South Carolina RB Raheim Sanders has been phenomenal with 100-plus yards and two touchdowns in back-to-back games. Also, the Gamecocks’ pass rush has been impressive this year so Pyne could be in for a rough one.

3) Kansas @ No. 6 BYU (10:15 p.m. ET, ESPN)

Now, I think this will be an exciting CFB game with some upset potential. Kansas is playing their best football of the season the past few weeks which was seen in last week’s upset over Iowa State. On the other hand, BYU is now ranked 6th in the nation but they have survived some scary games over the past few weeks. This week 12 matchup has a late-night thriller written all over it.

Kansas QB Jalon Daniels has picked it up recently moving the ball through the air and on the ground. The Jayhawk offense has looked better and more importantly has looked good against good defenses. However, BYU has been a complete team all year with QB Jake Retzlaff leading the Cougar offense. This game has some big CFB Playoff and Big 12 title game implications on the line. This is a late-night kickoff in Provo where Kansas will have a chance to play spoiler and knock off a No. 6 BYU team.

2) No. 13 Boise State @ San Jose St (7 p.m. ET, CBSSN)

I think this CFB game will be fun for a lot of the same reasons as the number three game of the week. Boise State has been a media darling all year as they are the front-runner to make the CFB playoff as the non-group of 4 teams. Also, they have the possible Heisman winner on their team in RB Ashton Jeanty. San Jose State has had a strong 6-3 season in their own right dropping close games including a double OT loss to Washington State.

This game has the ingredients to be an offensive explosion as both teams can put up forty points. The over/under is at a higher 62.5 which is a good sign for this game. Spartans QB Walker Eget has thrown for over 300 yards twice in the last three games. Also, WR Nick Nash has been electric all year as he has 86 receptions, 1156 yards, and 13 touchdowns. Broncos QB Maddux Madden has looked better recently but this is another statement game chance for Jeanty. Overall, I believe this will be one of the most entertaining games of week 12.

Game of the Week: No. 7 Tennessee @ No. 12 Georgia (7:30 p.m. ET, ABC/ESPN+)

This game had to be the game of the week for week 12. However, it did lose some steam after Georgia was upset last week. Also, Tennessee QB Nico Iamaleava is questionable and Georgia’s RB Trevor Etienne has been ruled out. However, this should still be a great game between two elite SEC teams. Also, this game has the biggest CFB Playoff implications compared to any other game in week twelve.

Georgia’s offense has struggled throughout the year and QB Carson Beck has had a huge turnover problem. However, the Bulldogs’ defense is tremendous like always, and can keep them in any game. Tennessee is pretty similar as their offense has been underwhelming the past few weeks as the passing game has struggled. However, their defense is also one of the best in the country. It will be interesting what offense shows up this week with the SEC title game and CFP Playoff implications on the line. These were my 2024 college football games of the week for week 12.
