2023 NFL Season: Week 13 Overreactions
The clock has turned to December and we’re approaching the final lap of the 2023 NFL Season. Nevertheless, let’s properly (or improperly) overreact to Week 13’s action, which featured plenty of exciting results despite the abbreviated slate!
Am I just being a hater about Eric Bieniemy?
Rivera is a joke too but they’re awful on both sides of the ball and their roster isn’t bad.
Robert Saleh puts on a clinic on how to not be a leader.
He should charge for that class. The lesson is just to do the opposite. Both teams keep getting worse as the year goes on and it’s not an accident.
The Steelers Need To Look For A Quarterback
Let it be known that I was never a fan of Kenny Pickett. I remember the watch-along for the draft and I was not pleased with the pick, to say the least. I know he got hurt during the Arizona game, and that bum Mitch Trubisky finished the game. The point here is that nothing about this QB room is ever going to work. Pickett does not have the long-term tangibles to be a plus starter, and the backup behind him is worse. If Pittsburgh wants to seriously revamp the offense after the Canada firing, they need to look inward and really look at the QB position.
Is it time to press the panic button on the Eagles’ defense?
The Eagles have one of the most talented defenses in the NFL, especially with their pass rush. At worst, their pressure will make life somewhat uncomfortable in a narrow pocket. But that wasn’t the case for Brock Purdy Sunday, who completed 19-of-27 for 314 yards and four touchdowns in the San Francisco 49ers Week 13 dominant victory in Philadelphia, Penn. Their back seven has been beaten up all season due to injury, but is it time to be worried about a defense that ranks No. 27 in EPA/play allowed and No. 20 in success rate allowed? Philadelphia’s still in the driver’s seat in the NFC East at 10-2, but it’s something to keep in mind more and more as the playoffs begin to approach, even though it might not matter in the end.
The Lions are fakers.
Their defense has been terrible, allowing 23.8 points per game. Jared Goff has been terrible with a QBR of 60.4, having only one game above an 80. Defenses have learned that they just need to cover Amon-Ra St. Brown and Sam LaPorta at this point. When the team reaches playoffs, it will be very reminiscent of the Vikings from last year.
Brock Purdy should be the frontrunner for MVP.
He just dismantled the Eagles while having a QBR of 148.8. He also has four games this season where he had the NFL’s highest QBR.
Chiefs don’t make it to the AFC championship.
The Chiefs just lost to the Packers. Patrick Mahomes‘ QBR against the Packers was 79.1 and his passer rating has been his worst since 2017 at 95.1. He ranks seventh in completion percentage, completing 68.1 percent of his passes; if you combine that with his terrible receiving core, the team just doesn’t have enough weapons to be considered serious.
