2023 MLB Draft Profile: Aidan Miller

Almost 15 prospects in and we are just now making it to our first third base prospect. That being Aidan Miller out of J.W Mitchell High School in Florida. Which seems to be producing all the high school-level talent these days. Let’s take a look at his 2023 MLB Draft profile!

Scouting grades: Hit: 50 | Power: 60 | Run: 50 | Arm: 60 | Field: 50 | Overall: 55

When looking at Aidan Miller, one thing stands out: His power. Boy, does he have a lot of it. Granted, it’s all against high school level pitching but his quick swing makes scouts believe his raw power will transfer over to higher levels.

His build is prototypical of that of a corner infielder although it’s not quite clear where he will end up. He has a rocket arm leading me to believe he will work perfectly as a third baseman. The glove isn’t elite but with that arm, even an average glove could work wonders for him.

He has shown an ability to hit high velo and more importantly, turn on it. He sometimes does get a little to pull happy which could be a downfall for him. If he learns to spray the ball to all parts of the field, though he can be an elite hitter.

I also worry that his reliance on power could lead to inflated strikeout numbers at higher levels. In high school, it’s not really that big of a deal. But at these higher levels, reliance on your power could prevent you from ever becoming an elite hitter.

But for now, the raw power is definitely there. Miller can easily be a 30-plus home run hitter, but I just think he needs to improve that hit tool a little bit.

Work on shortening his swing and emphasizing driving the ball to all parts of the field. It’s what the minor leagues are for, adjusting aspects of your game until they are MLB-ready.

If he can do these things, I think we are looking at a future elite third-baseman. What do you think? Leave a comment below!
