2023-24 NFL Season: Are We Sure The New England Patriots Stink?

I’m just going to say it. I may even regret saying it. As we head into the 2023-24 NFL Season, are we positive the New England Patriots stink? Are you willing to bet your life on it?

The closer we get to the season, I’m tempted to pick the Patriots to make the playoffs. Mostly because the disrespect level has kinda gone too far now and nobody is on them. No, I don’t expect the same old dominance. Playoffs? That’s very much on the table.

I’ve blasted Bill Belichick before and he’s deserved it in spades. He’s totally lost it in terms of making personnel decisions. It’s actually amazing that he hasn’t called me to consult him on wide receivers in the draft. However, I actually think the draft the Patriots just had was pretty decent. I actually think the defense might be really good. It always is under Belichick. They’re always dialed in on special teams too. By the way, they may have made the single biggest upgrade at the punter spot more than any other team.

There is something that also isn’t being talked about enough. In terms of upgrades, I’m not sure a team made a more important upgrade than the Patriots did at offensive coordinator. Last year a defensive coach was calling offensive plays. It almost felt like Matt Patricia was internally tanking them. They’re going to have a real functional offense this year.

Is Bill Belichick Actually On The Hot Seat?

Listen, I’m not telling you to go jump on the Patriots bandwagon. The dynasty is very much over. What I am telling you is that we probably shouldn’t count them out. The Patriots will be in every game and have a puncher’s chance to make the playoffs. New England won eight games last year with an offense that was broken. I’m trying to warn you about what’s to come. There is just no circumstance where this team wins fewer than seven games. Just won’t happen. Belichick is still on the sidelines and coaching trumps all.
