2022 Premier League Matchweek 8 Best Bets

After a weekend of postponements, the Premier League is back in action and there are some very favorable matches to bet on. Three matches have been postponed this weekend due to the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II so that leaves us with seven remaining matches. Of those seven, here are the best bets to make ahead of the action.

*All lines are taken from DraftKings and are accurate as of 1 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 16. *

Nottingham Forest vs Fulham – Fulham +155

Two of the three newly promoted teams face off from very different spots on the Premier League table. Fulham has been a surprise team so far this season currently sitting in 10th place with eight points. On the other hand, Forest won just one match and sit in 19th place with four points. Fulham could very well win this match looking at table placement, but the reason this is a good bet to make is that Forest has only scored four goals so far this season while Fulham striker Aleksandar Mitrović has scored six goals himself. Mitrovic has finally begun showing that he has the ability to score in the Premier League after having struggled in previous EPL seasons. A parlay of Fulham to win and Mitrović to be an anytime goal scorer may be the way to go with the odds moving to +235.

Aston Villa vs Southampton – Draw +250

These two teams are very evenly matched on paper and are separated by only three points in the table. The only worry is that there has not been a draw between these two teams since 2015, but Aston Villa did spend three of those years in the Championship before returning to the Premier League in 2019.

Wolverhampton vs Manchester City – Erling Haaland 2+ Goals +250

There are only three guarantees in life: death, taxes, and Erling Haaland scoring goals. Through his first six matches in England’s top division, the Norwegian has scored a whopping 10 goals including two consecutive hat tricks. Only once this season for Man City has he not scored and that came in a 4-0 thumping of Bournemouth when he had an assist instead. Wolves have only allowed multiple goals once this season, however, and that came in their first match. At the end of the day though Haaland is too big, too strong, and too lethal in front of goal.

Newcastle vs Bournemouth – Over 3.5 Goals +200

Bournemouth has been giving up goals left and right allowing the most goals against in the Premier League with 18. That breaks down to an average of three goals per match which in this case would mean they need to score just once to hit the over. Newcastle’s latest signing Alexander Isak is one to watch that could help the over hit. He has only played in two matches for the Magpies but has a debut goal to his name and looked very threatening in attack.

Everton vs West Ham – Under 0.5 Goals +950

This is very much a long shot based on the odds but neither of these teams has impressed much so far this season. Combined the two teams have scored only seven goals, three less than Haaland has scored himself. While goalscoring has been lacking neither team has allowed many goals either with Everton conceding only six times and West Ham eight times. Only three teams have allowed fewer goals than Everton has this season: Tottenham (five), Brighton (five), and Wolves (four). It would not be a surprise if this is a battle in the midfield with neither team creating very many chances.
