The NFL Draft is all about minimizing risk. Sometimes, it’s better to hit a double than strikeout trying to hit a home run. That’s where this post comes in. There is always a wide range of outcomes for NFL prospects entering the league. This article is designed to take that out of the equation. I’m talking about players that will enter any situation and thrive. They might end up just being a double but you will not whiff with these player even under the worst circumstance. Here are your 5 can’t miss prospects in the 2020 NFL Draft.
1: Chase Young (Ohio State)
Put Chase Young in the Hall of Fame right now. I’m a harsh critic. I look for reasons to downgrade a prospect. Can’t do it when it comes to Chase Young. Joel Klatt said it best during a broadcast. This is the Barry Bonds of college football. He’s right. If you don’t double team this man on every snap, you’re in trouble. Barry Bonds gets one pitch to hit per night. He put that puppy in the cheap seats. That’s Chase Young. Shift the entire defense to his side or night, night. You can’t miss here.
2: Tua Tagovailoa (Alabama)
With a little modern medicine, I might live to be 245! Get with the times, people. Tua Tagovailoa broke his hip. So what? Your point is? CJ Mosley broke his hip, how’s he doing? How about $85 million linebacker good. This is left-handed Russell Wilson. Trent Dilfer hit the nail on the head.
Sometimes people make the draft too hard. Tua is the most efficient passer in the history of college football. What are we doing here?
3: Derrick Brown.
Derrick Brown is a monster. This is a can’t miss defensive tackle prospect. I don’t need many words for this. Sometimes people make the draft too hard. Derrick Brown abused every single offensive lineman he went up against. He’s can’t miss.
4: Jerry Jeudy
Jerry Jeudy holds the ultimate trump card. He’s an elite route runner. Not just an elite route runner, he might be the best one to come out in 10 years. I don’t care who’s covering him, Jeudy will win his route more often than not. He’s not the biggest guy in the world so his ceiling is questionable. Bust? No chance. Jeudy will stick in the league for a long time.
5: D’Andre Swift
The running backs seem to be sliding in all of the mock drafts. That doesn’t matter to me. Whoever picks D’Andre Swift is getting a good player with no bust potential. His movement skills are too good. How many running backs steal carries away from Nick Chubb and Sony Michel as a True Freshman? I’m not sure the answer is anybody other than Swift in college. You thought Josh Jacobs was good? Jacobs can’t touch Swift.
