2015 Reese’s Senior Bowl Recap: North Team Edition (John David Mercer/USA TODAY Sports)

The Senior Bowl game and practices have concluded. The North team defeated the South 34-13. Below are some players that caught my eye from the North team this week.

  • Quarterbacks

The North teams quarterbacks did little to question my original opinion about them. Baylor’s Bryce Petty started the game. Petty was horrendous during the week of practice and threw an ugly interception during the game. It seems to me Petty was a product of the Art Briles system. Petty looks like a 6th round quarterback but some quarterback thirsty team will likely push the Baylor quarterback higher than he deserves.

The other quarterbacks for the North were much better. Sean Mannion looks like a Mike Glennon type of player and looked relaxed from the pocket. The other quarterback was Shane Carden of East Carolina. Carden looked the best in my opinion throughout the week and is a sleeper I certainly have my eye on. His collegiate target Justin Hardy was also in attendance. Both guys will have my attention moving forward.

  • Runningbacks

The tailbacks stole the show during the game. Game MVP Ameer Abduallah looked like that typical 2nd round running back who also performed in pass protection. Abdullah had 7 carries for 73 yards during the game. David Cobb and Tyler Varga also combined for three touchdowns. Much of this credit can be attributed to the left side of the offensive line. Donovan Smith of Penn State and Laken Tomlinson of Duke had an outstanding week. Both players made some money.

  • Defense

A lot of defensive players made a name for themselves moving forward. Washington’s Danny Shelton is the biggest name here literally. The 340 pound defensive tackle was a house disturbing the pocket. The only question was his stamina questioning his ability to be a three down player. Quandre Diggs and Quinton Rollins came up with interceptions during the game. Diggs from Texas a relative of former NFL corner Quinton Jammer looks like a future slot corner in the league. Quinton Rollins is an interesting player because of his athletic prowess. Rollins played 4 years of basketball for Miami of Ohio. Rollins showed his athletic ability and has made a name for himself.
