Vince McMahon recently came out on top after numerous allegations of sexual misconduct and hush money, but it seems that his legal woes are far from over.
McMahon is a controversial figure in pro wrestling today, but the 77-year-old is fondly remembered by many of his former employees and veteran fans. His role as an on-screen authority figure in both the Attitude and Ruthless Aggression Eras make Vince McMahon a bonafide WWE legend himself.
According to Jason Powell of ProWrestling.Net, WWE disclosed that federal agents both executed a search warrant and served a federal grand jury subpoena on McMahon. This allegedly happened back in early July. The company’s second-quarter financial report lists this but makes note that no legal charges have been levied against Vince McMahon yet.
It was earlier reported that Vince McMahon is officially on medical leave from WWE, after undergoing major spinal surgery. According to Fightful Select, his spinal issues prevented him from doing any work in both SmackDown and Raw. Sources close to McMahon describe the surgery as a “major, life-altering operation.”
Most of the talent in WWE was unaware of Vince McMahon’s surgery before the news broke, as it seemed like they were purposely kept in the dark about it. Dave Meltzer also recently reported on it in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, that the operation lasted for longer than four hours. Melzer also called the surgery a “touchy situation,” which likely explains why he tried to keep it under wraps.
There’s currently no timetable for his return, but an insider recently spoke to The U.S. Sun about his next step. According to this source, Vince McMahon will be doing everything in his power to fight the federal allegations and to remain in WWE once the merger with Endeavor is finalized.
