Insert I’m not leaving meme… except with a twist. It would appear that Joe Rogan and Dana White are a package deal. If White eventually retires or leaves the UFC, Rogan will likely leave with him.
On a recent episode of Rogan’s podcast, he explained that he’s strapped to the UFC train until White departs.
“I don’t think about retiring,” Rogan began. “If Dana White quits, I might quit. But that’s it,” he followed up. “It’s actually in my contract. Yeah, if he leaves, I leave. Yeah, so, in my contract, if he leaves, I don’t have to stay.”
“Why that, something personal?” Topuria asked.
“I wouldn’t be doing it if it wasn’t for him. He’s my friend. He talked me into doing it. I mean, I started working for the UFC before him. I started working for the UFC in 1997 when it was nothing. Nobody was watching. We did it at a small, like a high school auditorium in Dauphin, Alabama. You had to take a propeller plane to get there,” Rogan replied.
Who knows when these two will call it quits? The only thing that’s clear is that when White eventually rides off into the sunset, Rogan will probably stop calling UFC fights. Now, Rogan only does the heavy-hitting pay-per-view events, but still makes his presence felt when calling those fights. Both are in their 50’s and may not be done be done running the show any time soon.
