We’re still in the mud here covering these unheralded quarterbacks for the 2025 NFL Draft class. However, the conversation on Will Rogers is an interesting one to have. After playing a bunch of years in the SEC, Rogers finished up at Washington and will now head to the NFL. Let’s take a closer look and do a deep dive on the draft profile here for the Huskies signal caller!
Rogers, checks in at 6-foot-2, 216, and was a three star guy coming out of the state of Mississippi. He spent four years at Mississippi State before finishing up with Jed Fisch at Washington. 2020 wasn’t much to write home about but credit to him for being a starter in that conference right away as a freshman. This is a story of progression not always being linear. Actually, sometimes progression goes right into the toilet.
2021 and 2022 were his most intriguing years. He actually started to emerge as something. Then the wheels fell off in 2023 and this past year at Washington was lowkey rough. The guy who replaced him in the Bowl game clearly has way more talent.
Just never really pushed the ball down the field even when he was successful and you’re not getting any plus rushing value here. The trajectory with some of these players is just so strange. 71 passing touchdowns during 21 and 22 while totally falling off a cliff after. Yes, there was a coaching change involved and if you really dig into it, maybe this should be part of Mike Leach’s very deserving Hall of Fame candidacy. The completion percentage tanked below 60% his last year at Mississippi State and just never ever impressed with Washington.
No Combine invite for Rogers, which wasn’t a shock. He’s undrafted for me but I won’t be totally surprised if someone gives him a shot in the preseason.
