UFC 312 is in the books and Dricus Du Plessis successfully defended his title in Sydney, Australia. After the event concluded, Dana White made sure to let the Aussies know that he despises their media outlets.
“Holy f*cking sh*t. You guys have to have the biggest p*ssies of all time in the media here, just for the record,” White said after mocking Shields’ headline that he was “physically sick” watching the chummy relation between White and Minns displayed on a recent podcast.
“Everyone knows my stance on this, we’re going to take guys and girls that say and do a lot of things,” White said. “I’m a big believer in free speech and it probably seems worse when you come here because your media are such weak human beings. I thought we had weak media, you guys win hands down.”
“We were reading the story in the back and cracking up at that guy. That guy has gotta be the biggest f*cking wimp on planet earth,” White said.
“Even your people know that your f*cking media are weak. They even know, they know it. You know it. We all know it now. I didn’t know. Now I know.”
It would seem that a lot of the frustration from White is the fact that the Australian media has an issue with Sean Strickland’s character (who doesn’t). But their complaint is that he shouldn’t have been allowed to fight at all. That’s where I’ll disagree. Watching Strickland get his face beat in is highly entertaining. Certain fighters in the UFC are going to say crazy stuff. Watching those people go down to the ground is part of what makes the sport so wonderful.
As for the Australian media… White was maybe a tad harsh. Media people in general are going to ask stupid questions regardless of where they’re from. That’s not just an Aussie thing.
