Welcome back to another segment of our daily “Who The Fuck Is That Guy” series. “Who The Fuck Is That Guy” is how we end every episode of the Vendetta Sports Fantasy Show on our Youtube Channel. Everyone gives a player that no one knows about and no one will ever draft. Yet somehow, someway they will win you your fantasy league. Today we’re talking about Brian Hill, running back for the Atlanta Falcons, and Alex’s pick in episode 6.

Background Information

Brian Hill is a 24-year-old running back. He was a 5th-round pick by the Atlanta Falcons in the 2017 NFL Draft. The Bengals signed him from the Falcons practice squad in November of that season. He played his college football at Wyoming. Hill had an amazing junior year as he ran for 1860 yards and 22 touchdowns while averaging 5.3 yards per carry. In 2018 Hill returned to the Falcons on their practice squad and played in 10 games. His best year came in 2019, when he had 323 rushing yards and 2 rushing touchdowns.

Fantasy Flashes

Brian Hill showed potential as a big-play running back in 2019. Let’s look at the Falcons Week 14 game against the Carolina Panthers. In that game, Hill had 62 rushing yards and 1 rushing touchdown on only 9 carries. That gives Hill an average of 6.9 yards per carry. His performance totals 12.2 points in both Standard and PPR Leagues. Another game to look at is Week 10 against the New Orleans Saints. In that game, Hill had 61 rushing yards as well as 1 catches for 10 yards and a touchdown. In standard leagues that equals 13.1 points and 14.1 in PPR Leagues. These games show promise and potential that is worth investing in.

Fantasy Potential

Brian Hill’s fantasy potential lies in his production with limited touches. In 2019 he averaged 4.1 yards per carry and 4.7 yards per carry for his career. If we remove his rookie year in which he had 11 carries, he averages 4.89 yards per carry. He could very well get more touches in Atlanta this year. Brian Hill is 6’1 and weighs 219 pounds. A goalline running back is beautiful for fantasy football as every touchdown is worth 60 yards. It’s much easier to get 2 touchdowns than 120 yards of production as a running back who isn’t a bellcow back. Brian Hill will score a few short rushing touchdowns, those are extremely valuable in fantasy. You need touchdowns to win fantasy games.

Brian Hill’s Path To Playing Time

Brian Hill may not be the bellcow back in Atlanta but that’s okay. He will end up being the goal line back. Ito Smith is 5’8 and weighs about 200 pounds. Hill has 5 inches and 20 pounds on him so that’s a wash, Hill beats Smith out for the goal line back. As for Todd Gurley, the Falcons would be smart to have Hill be the goalline back instead. While they are very similar in size, Todd Gurley’s knees are shot. He’s been battling arthritis and that’s a recipe for disaster as an NFL running back. It’s entirely possible Gurley has to cut a few pounds to take pressure off his knees and when that happens Brian Hill is getting the carries at the goal line. He’ll be a touchdown vulture for all Atlanta running backs, you want touchdown vultures on your fantasy team.
