Who will be competing in the 2025 NBA Skills Challenge

The ever-changing Skills Challenge will tip off Saturday night’s three-event festivities! If you haven’t seen our other posts about the dunk contest and 3-point shootout, check those out when you can!

Tonight, we will be previewing (and predicting) the NBA Skills Challenge, which has changed over the years! This year, there will be four teams of two players.

Let’s dive into it!

Team Cavs:

Mitchell and Mobley are two of the best on the best team in the Eastern Conference. Both are also incredibly skilled. Mitchell hasn’t been as loud statistically as he was last year when he was playing like a top-10 player, but he’s still averaging 23.9 points and 4.8 assists on 45.4/39.1/83.5 shooting splits. Mobley’s ascended into one of the best big men in the league, averaging 18.5 points, 9.1 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game on 64.2 percent true-shooting.

Team Rooks:

This is the fourth-straight year where there’s been a rookie team–and this one featured the top-two picks in Risacher and Sarr, who both played in the Rising Stars Game Friday. Both players are skilled, but inconsistent shooters and improving passers. I don’t love their chances but I’ve seen crazier things. After all, a lot of this is random.

Team Spurs:

Victor Wembanyama is in the Skills Challenge for the second consecutive season. He was with Anthony Edwards and Paolo Banchero last year and now will be with Paul. I love this group’s all-around versatility because both Paul and Wembanyama can do a little bit of everything, though I do wonder how Wembanyama will be able to navigate the relay race because of how gigantic he is.

Team Warriors:

We typically see the host organization have at least one team in the Skills Competition. I’m not surprised that Green is there, but I am a little with Moody, a fourth-year guard who’s averaging 19.4 minutes per game this season. Moody’s continuing to improve and he gives Golden State the best shot in the shooting challenge outside of Stephen Curry.

Prediction: Team Spurs
