There’s a common phrase in the NBA and that is: The NBA is better when the Knicks are good. It’s completely true. It really doesn’t make much sense but still as an NBA fan, it just seems better. The Knicks have a franchise where their fanbase is…intense. To not have that when the Knicks are bad is just not as fun. The Knicks fanbase is obnoxious, toxic, and passionate, much like most New Yorkers. To not have them relevant in the NBA is boring.
Let me clarify: when I say good, the Knicks are above .500 and are in playoff contention. I really didn’t believe all that much in New York this season, but they’re proving me wrong thus far. Leon Rose and Tom Thibodeau have this New York team grooving. Derrick Rose is playing well. Maybe not his MVP form but good enough for New York. In typical fashion, Knicks fans are saying Julius Randle is a top 10 player in the league. This isn’t true but still obnoxious. Don’t believe me? Look:
Ahhhhhhhhh, they’re back. Currently, the NYK are 4th in the Eastern Conference. I’m not sure how long they stay here or if they move up anymore but it is wild that they are at this point. They’re in a great position to make the playoffs. I hope the Knicks make the playoffs. I mean I don’t think even win a playoff series, but they deserve to at least go. The Knicks deserve it, their fans deserve it, the NBA deserves it. As we already mentioned, somehow, in some way, the NBA is better when New York is relevant.
