Things appear to be coming to an interesting head in Foxborough. Rather than rejoining the New England Patriots as a Defensive Coordinator, Matt Patricia has been named to what NBC Sports calls the Dwight Schrute to Bill Belichick’s Michael Scott. As a special assistant to the head coach, Patricia has been following around and assisting Belichick around for a variety of duties. Whether it’s helping players during OTA’s, giving advice and expertise to the Patriots’ draft room, or any other responsibilities, there is definitely more than meets the eye here. At age 69, we all know that Belichick will eventually retire and take his place in the Hall of Fame. Once that happens, there will be many vying for power in the vacuum that ensues. It is worth noting that the former Lions’ Head Coach remains in very good standing in New England, and was an important part to multiple Super Bowl victories under Brady and Belichick.
