Way Too Early 2025 NFL Draft Linebacker Rankings

The 2024 NFL Draft is in the books which means we don’t have anything football related to be excited about for a few months. As we gear up for next football season, I’m going to be releasing my way too early 2025 NFL Draft rankings to get you up to speed on the prospects you need to know. Next up on the list is the offensive line rankings. Enjoy them and feel free to comment on any disagreements you have.

Just a heads up from me. The rest of the positions are just going to be top ten. I went more expansive for the quarterbacksrunning backs, and wide receivers. I need to start transitioning into fantasy content anyway. However, I will say this linebacker draft has the potential to be LOADED so I won’t struggle to find ten names for this one.

10: Jay Higgins (Iowa)

171 total tackles for Higgins last year at Iowa. What does it mean? Maybe he’s good. Truthfully, I need to watch more but him eating the middle of a good defense probably means something. Good enough to crack the list.

9: Jihaad Campbell (Alabama)

Big time recruit who will step into a larger role this year. Natural athlete from IMG who still is developing as a pure linebacker. Can rush the passer really well. Still had 66 tackles in an injury plagued season last year. This year will be very telling just how good he is.

8: Jamon Dumas-Johnson (Kentucky)

Georgia has better players than you. You can either accept that or you’re going to make mistakes. Kentucky is smart enough to understand this. By the way, he got a lot of playing time at Georgia. Multiple starts over the years. They just have younger aliens behind him that have to play. It is what it is. Dumas-Johnson is still a good player though.

7: Xavian Sorey Jr. (Arkansas)

What I just said about Dumas-Johnson also applies here. Except for the fact that I think Sorey has more potential as a pure athlete. He’s already projected to step right in and start for Arkansas. We’ll obviously find out more this year but a name you should keep on your watch list.

6: Deonte Lawson (Alabama)

Talked about him a lot last year. He’s not as good as this guy but we saw the CJ Mosely flashes last year. Typical Bama linebacker with size but questionable wheels. Should be a good player and we’ll see more development this year.

5: Barrett Carter (Clemson)

I know everyone wanted to cream in their pants over Jeremiah Trotter Jr. I got that. Then the league reminded you that he wasn’t that good for all the reasons I said. This is the real linebacker at Clemson. Monster five star guy who used to play running back. Has a different gear closing in on you. Would have been the best linebacker in the 2024 class, which should say a lot.

4: Raylen Wilson (Georgia)

SEC All-Freshman Team in a season where he had 15 tackles and one sack. If that doesn’t give you a hint of what this guy is… I can’t help you. Dude is a freak and won’t even start. It’s exactly why guys like Dumas-Johnson and Sorey packed their bags. Former five star guy. He’s a freak and fast. Probably won’t see much of him but maybe he declares early.

3: Jalon Walker (Georgia)

Yup, bring all the Georgia guys down. Another former five star guy. Has some freakishness to him but more of a instinctive compact guy who can play. Had five sacks and didn’t start. Has a basketball and track background. I expect a monster breakout season coming that we may or may not see only because freshman CJ Allen is so stupid good he might just force his way in there.

2: Smael Mondon Jr. (Georgia)

I talked about him a lot last year. My thoughts haven’t changed. If you don’t want him, I’ll take him.

1: Harold Perkins (LSU)

This is the freak show of all freak shows. Used to play on the edge but he’s not really big enough to do that. Perkins is switching to inside linebacker now. We’ll see how it goes but the dude rocks getting after the quarterback. His freshman year tells you everything you need to know.
