The Way The Red Sox Have Handled Roman Anthony Is Borderline Shameful

It’s June, and Roman Anthony still isn’t on the MLB team. Let’s just have a real conversation here. The Red Sox aren’t prioritizing winning baseball games, and the way they’re handling their prized prospect should be viewed as borderline shameful.

My stance has remained the same. Children. Unaccountable children. That’s who’s running the Red Sox. It’s very obvious why Anthony isn’t on the big league team right now. It all stems from politics and corruption.

We know why Anthony isn’t on the big league team right now. They’re afraid he’s going to win rookie of the year and erase a year of service time in terms of team control because of the new rules. The only problem is Anthony deserved to be on the big league team on Opening Day, and then they could have been rooting for him to win the Award. Except that wasn’t going to happen either, because management couldn’t get an extension done. It’s why Kristian Campbell made the team right away. Now they’re delaying Anthony even further in fear that he could become a Super Two player.

Anthony, 21, is the consensus top prospect in baseball and is currently slashing .296/.422/.493 with a .915 OPS and nine homers in AAA right now. Of course, Anthony would help Boston win baseball games right now. Except management somehow can’t find a spot for him on the roster, which in reality, stems from the idiotic pigeon hole move of Rafael Devers to DH.

Poor planning, poor leadership, and poor forward thinking ability have the Red Sox in this spot. A spot where they suck and everyone is wondering why they look stupid while doing it. There’s no defending this team. It’s been a disaster class of bad culture since day one of Spring Training, and this thing with Anthony is just the cherry on top.
