Mortal Kombat 1 is the newest entry in the Mortal Kombat franchise. The new era has put a fun spin on fan-favorite characters as well as showcasing some fantastic old characters, and the new stages in this game are truly amazing and the gameplay is extremely fun.
The fatalities are just as brutal and bloody as ever. However, this entry has one more thing going for it and that is its DLC Kombat Pack characters. When the original Mortal Kombat 1 DLC list was announced, it made some waves because of the stacked list of characters. The MK trailer for Omni-Man has already dropped and now it is Quan Chi’s time to shine.
Quan Chi is a major character in Mortal Kombat as he either is or aids the big bad in a lot of games. He is also a bit of a divisive character, as some fans prefer the other evil sorcerer Shang Tsung over him. Nevertheless, he is a welcome sight for Mortal Kombat fans, as he was not in Mortal Kombat 11.
Quan Chi is known for his chilling look and excellent sorcery skills which are on full display in the new gameplay trailer. Mortal Kombat 1 has had an incredible rollout when it comes to new trailers and the new Quan Chi trailer is no exception. MK1 fans can be excited knowing they will get their hands on this returning character on Dec. 14.
The treacherous sorcerer returns with some slight costume changes but keeps his same vibe. However, the major change seen in the trailer is in his gameplay. There are his signature portals, green energy and skeletons. Now, he has what some fans are calling “Lovecraftian” levels of sorcery. Quan Chi not only has help from the undead but now there is a tentacle monster at his disposal to terrorize opponents.
Also, the trailer had a fun interaction between Quan Chi and Shang Tsung that called back to an older MK game; the Deadly Alliance joke was a fantastic Easter egg for long-time Mortal Kombat fans.
Overall, Quan Chi’s new gameplay feels fresh and looks great. He should be a nice addition to MK1 and another successful DLC character after Omni-Man. It will be exciting to play as the sorcerer and fans will be awaiting the next Kombat Pack DLC trailer.
