Minnesota Vikings fourth-round pick Khyree Jackson has tragically passed away Saturday at the age of 24. Details are limited at this time, but it is being reported that he was involved in a car accident. His mother has confirmed his death to TMZ, and his former head coach at Oregon Dan Lanning has put out a tweet, also confirming the somber news.
Jackson, who was picked 108th overall by the Minnesota Vikings, was one of the better stories in the 2024 NFL Draft, as he had given up football altogether in 2017, before giving the sport another chance in 2019 after leaving his job at a grocery store. He would make the most of it, turning in a very good career as an Oregon Duck. You can read his draft profile I did on him here. Before ending up in Oregon, Jackson had originally committed to Nick Saban and Alabama.
This Minnesota Vikings team is shaping up to be ahead of schedule for a potential rebuild or retooling of their roster. The team did a very good job in last year’s draft, adding pieces on both sides of the ball, and did a solid job this year with the picks that they had, including landing their franchise QB in J.J. McCarthy. Jackson’s teammates are pouring in their support on Twitter, as this news has crushed his former and current teammates, as well as anyone who has the opportunity to meet and speak with him.
This is a developing story, and we will be sure to update you with any new information on the tragic passing of Khyree Jackson as it comes out. Vendetta Sports Media would like to send our condolences to the family and friends of Khyree, and we will keep you in our thoughts during this time.
