Under Maintenance
We deeply apologize for interrupting your reading but Vendetta is currently undergoing some important maintenance! You may experience some layout shifts, slow loading times and dififculties in navigating.
You know, it’s funny. I just did that Baseball is Boring interview, and I basically had to explain 800 times about how the Red Sox have no culture, leadership, or forward-thinking ability. The dust hasn’t even settled on that story, and basketball personality Rachel DeMita gets fired for the same reason.
DeMita didn’t get fired because she was in the wrong. Another person was canned because of bad leadership, and there’s no hiding it.
We keep getting told that the mainstream doesn’t punish people for speaking their minds. That the “alternative leagues” like the Big3 are safe havens. That authenticity matters.
Then DeMita gets canned for tweeting about Caitlin Clark when it is, in fact, her job to be on social media. Also, if Big3 actually thinks the WNBA is a competitor… doesn’t that tell you everything you need to know about the state of what they’re doing?
DeMita didn’t get fired because he was in the wrong. It had everything to do with poor leadership. Big3 says they’re different. Says they support creators. Then they turn around and show they’re just another overreactive, scared-of-the-comments section operation with no spine.
Sports media is changing. The goal used to be to work for ESPN. Now the goal is to be independent, where you can make way more money without them.
So let’s make it simple.
Rachel, if you want to write something without the fear of getting fired for having a spine, we’ve got you.
Part-time blogger. Full-time respect. No leash. No memo from PR.
Come to Vendetta. We don’t flinch.
And if that Tweet really was the issue, we’ll take 10 more just like it. The inmates are running the asylum, we’re just getting started.
