Vendetta Roundtable: Biggest bold prediction for 2024 NBA Finals?

The 2024 NBA Finals between the Dallas Mavericks is officially here! Before the series, I asked them a series of questions–that I will also answer–regarding the series.

We have previously examined X-Factors for both the Celtics (click here) and Mavericks (click here). For this one, we are going over our boldest prediction for the series, whether it pertains to just one game or for the entire series. Let’s see what the crew says:

Jiarmani Depena:

For Boston, Al Horford will have the game of his life at some point in this series. Probably like 5+ threes. I believe these are his final games as a basketball player.

For Dallas, in a week’s time, people will say Luka Doncic doesn’t have any help as he has a tremendous series while Dallas struggles around him. Outside of Kyrie probably.

Trey Daubert:

Payton Pritchard hits a buzzer-beating shot in some game where you know the second it goes in that Boston is winning the title.

James Moore:

For Boston, I feel a Derrick White masterclass is coming. I can’t explain or justify it, but I know it’s happening. I think he’s going to pop off for a game. As far as Dallas, I think a Kyrie 40-piece in Boston has to happen. The man knows he needs to deliver something special. It’d be hard for the scriptwriters to line up a better scene than him cooking Tatum and Brown at home.

Chickster:

Luka Doncic will average a triple-double. He will have to for the Mavs to have a chance. Another one will be that Kyrie and Luka will get ejected somehow, somehow once in this series.

For the Celtics, I think Jayson Tatum will have a stinker of a series. The Mavs should focus on making Jrue Holiday and Derrick White to score and Jaylen Brown to play with his left hand. They’ll focus on Tatum and KP defensively and force those other guys to win the series for them.

Matt:

One of my favorite bets heading into the series was that Brown would outscore Kyrie Irving in every game. So I’m going to stick with that.
