Update on WWE’s interest in signing Bryan Danielson from AEW – Rumor

Bryan Danielson signed with AEW in 2021 shortly after leaving WWE for the first time in over a decade. Ever since then, WWE fans have been clear in their desire to see him return to the promotion.

Popular rumor account, The Wrestling Blog, recently posted its own form of update on the matter. (Note: This is an alleged backstage rumor from a disputed source).

According to The Wrestling Blog, there are those in WWE who would love to bring back Bryan Danielson if he opts not to remain with AEW when his deal is expected to expire. However, the belief is that he will most likely extend with the promotion and will be staying much longer.

Bryan Danielson has yet to win a title during his stay with AEW. But he has been a focal point of programming since joining the company. He currently leads the Blackpool Combat Club, comprised of fellow WWE-turned-AEW stars Jon Moxley and Claudio Castagnoli, as well as prospect Wheeler Yuta.

He is currently out with a broken arm, which he sustained during the main event of AEW x NJPW: Forbidden Door against Kazuchika Okada. But he has seen his role expanded beyond the wrestling ring, working closely with Tony Khan in AEW creative.

Danielson originally left WWE in 2021, losing his last match to Roman Reigns in an unsuccessful attempt at the Universal title. He was in the main event of that year’s WrestleMania as he faced Roman and Edge in a triple-threat match for the title. His departure marked the end of a career that had seen him capture the WWE, World Heavyweight, United States, Intercontinental and Tag Team Championships, capped by his main event victory at WrestleMania 30, in 2014.
