UFC Baku Best Bets

The UFC is taking a great fight night event to Baku, Azerbaijan. The fight card features several bouts that appear to be competitive matchups. As a result, there are a few appealing moneyline bets on the board. Here are three of the best available bets for UFC Baku.

Jamahal Hill -110

The UFC Baku main event features a light heavyweight bout between Jamahal Hill and Khalil Rountree. The fight is lined as a pick ’em with both fighters priced at -110. I’ll take my pick and side with Hill to come out victorious.

Hill’s biggest advantages in this fight are his length and cardio. His ability to use ranged weapons to have success at a distance will be a key in this matchup. This begins with his jab. On the outside, he should consistently touch Rountree with his jab. Additionally, he has a quality kicking game that will help him find success.

Rountree is a dangerous fighter who is capable of landing very damaging strikes. Although, I do not expect him to land those shots at a quality clip in this fight. The biggest weapons in his arsenal are his straight punches and wide looping hooks. I do not expect him to land those big looping hooks. Hill has been hit hard in recent matchups, but his struggles have come from tight hooks on the inside. That is not a weapon Rountree consistently throws

If Rountree can not land a massive early shot that alters this fight, Hill should be able to use his cardio to take over in the later rounds. That is assuming he does not land a big early-round strike either.

Ultimately, this is a much more favorable matchup for Hill than some previous fights that have caused him issues. I expect him to have a lot of success in this fight. At -110, he is a solid bet for UFC Baku.

Rafael Fiziev +110

The UFC Baku co-main features a lightweight fight between Rafael Fiziev and Ignacio Bahamondes. Fiziev is a slight underdog who sits at +110 while Bahamondes is a -130 favorite. In the UFC Baku co-main event, Fiziev is the betting side.

This play has a slight amount of risk. It is hard to know exactly what to expect from Fiziev at this point in his career. In his most recent fight, he returned from an ACL tear to take a short-notice fight against Justin Gaethje. In that fight, he showed a significant drop in speed. This fight will help determine if his speed decline is a permanent issue or not.

I tend to believe Fiziev’s speed decline will not be a permanent concern. That is why he is the fighter that I am looking to bet on. At his athletic best, he should be able to use his speed to get inside and land big strikes. Bahamondes is a great distance striker, but he can struggle on the interior. That will certainly be true if Fiziev can consistently crash the distance.

At +110, Fiziev is a great bet for UFC Baku. If he enters this fight in prime form, he will look like a hindsight favorite.

UFC 316: Five Things We Learned

Myktybek Orolbai -130

The final best bet for UFC Baku is for Myktybek Orolbai to defeat Tofiq Musayev. Orolbai is a slight -155 favorite while Musayev is a +130 underdog.

I want to side with Orolbai in this matchup because he is the more durable fighter, has better cardio, and is more likely to have success with grappling.

Musayev is a quick striker with some impressive skills. On the outside, he has the potential to hit fighters with big shots. In this fight, he might accomplish that; however, I expect Orolbai to be durable enough to fight through the punishment.

Orolbai should be able to have striking success of his own in this fight. If he opts to strike with opponents, he can land hard punches. Still, he is a good wrestler who can get the fight to the ground and have success.

Orolbai should be able to leverage his cardio, physicality, and grappling to take control of this fight in the late rounds. Those are the type of fighters that I am looking to bet on. At -155, the price is not tremendous, but it is good enough to be one of the best bets available for UFC Baku.
