Tulane RB Makhi Hughes Transfers To Oregon

Dan Lanning is having a lot of success in the transfer portal, bringing in a number of very solid players. He has brought in DT Bear Alexander, OT Isaiah World, OT Alex Harkey, and other impact players. However, they just landed a crucial transfer for their depth on offense, as 247Sports.com is reporting that the Ducks have landed the transfer of Tulane running back Makhi Hughes. Hughes had an official visit to Eugene this weekend and decided that would be his home for 2025.

Makhi Hughes stands 5’11, 210 lbs, and was a production machine at Tulane, rushing for 1,401 yards and 15 touchdowns last season, and for his career, he ran for 2,779 yards and 22 touchdowns. He is also a solid receiving option out of the backfield, catching 30 passes for 243 yards and two touchdowns. The former three-star recruit out of Huffman HS in Birmingham, Alabama, made a made for himself at Tulane and will look to cash in on a bigger stage for Oregon in 2025. With Jordan James leaving for the NFL Draft, Hughes could establish a large role in this offense.

Makhi Hughes joins Oregon in time to play with his brother, five-star cornerback Na’eem Offord, who flipped his commitment from Ohio State to Oregon in early December. Hughes, the former AAC Rookie of the Year and freshman All-American in 2023, can make a name for himself just in time for the 2026 NFL Draft when he will be draft eligible as he is a redshirt sophomore and will be a Junior next season. His 3,022 scrimmage yards ranked second among Group of 5 players, behind Boise State’s Ashton Jeanty at 4,655.
