Tua Tagovailoa Is Refusing To Wear The Guardian Cap

Tua Tagovailoa has suffered a number of concussions during his NFL career. So many that people feel they have the right to clamor for him to retire. Since retirement is off the table, would Tua consider wearing the guardian cap to reduce the head trauma on a future hit?

Apparently the guardian cap is a no because of a “personal choice” whatever that means.

“Nope,” Tagovailoa said. “Personal choice.”

Just in case you were wonder, no, the Dolphins do not have the right to force him to wear it according to the CBA. Mike McDaniel commented on that too.

“We aren’t allowed to mandate things that aren’t mandated in terms of their attire,” McDaniel said. “I always preach that it is the individual player’s determination if they want to do so, and so what you don’t do is skirt the information gathering process and you make sure they’re well-informed and they have access to all the available options which is supremely important to me.”

To mix in my own personal spin here… let’s be real about this whole thing.

A: The Guardian Caps are ugly from a visual standpoint and that is the only reason he’s not wearing it.

B: I’m not saying every player should wear the Guardian Cap… but he probably should. Given the number of concussions this guy has suffered (to the point where he’s fencing) if anybody is going to rock the guardian cap… it should be him.
