March Madness is an inexact science. That’s exactly why I’m picking Xavier to win. They always seem to advance pretty far in the tournament and have a future NBA player on their team in Trevon Bluiet. Plus I think Villanova is the best team in the country but it’s tough to beat a team for the third time.
My Final four includes Arizona and Duke to go along with Nova and Xavier. DeAndre Ayton is the number one pick in the 2018 NBA Draft as of now so taking the best player to win a bunch of games doesn’t seem like a bad strategy. Also, Arizona has the feel where they are saying F*ck the world with the FBI probe. Since head coach Sean Miller gave his press conference regarding the FBI Investigation, Arizona has not lost. The Wildcats also have experience veterans like Alonzo Trier that are important this time of year.
Duke also has Grayson Allen riding out his Senior year that gives Duke a gritty edge that this Freshman squad needs. By the way, the last time Allen made a run, he was also surrounded by a bunch of talented freshmen (Jahlil Okafor, Justice Winslow, Tyus Jones). This team with Wendall Carter, Marvin Bagley, and Gary Trent feels similar, right?
Want a sleeper? How about Loyola-Chicago? They are only a 1.5 point underdog in the first round to Miami. Vegas knows more than you do. I also went with St. Bonaventure and Syracuse. 11 seeds that have won play in games have won at least one additional game since they changed that rule. TCU and Florida seem vulnerable. Plus, Florida lost to my pick Loyola-Chicago. Marshall and New Mexico State are among my upset picks as well.
