Tom Brady to join Fox Sports as a broadcaster in Fall 2024

Well, in a move that should be surprising to nobody, Tom Brady has announced that, starting in Fall 2024, he will serve as a broadcaster for Fox Sports. This move comes less than a week after Brady decided — for a second time — to retire.

The decision came as a surprise to nobody. Brady just had his first season of finishing under .500 but still limped into a playoff spot only to get destroyed by the Cowboys at home. Brady certainly wasn’t horrible, but it was clear that the future Hall of Famer had lost a step.

After his retirement, fans knew it was only a matter of time before he accepted a job in the booth somewhere. On Monday, he did just that while on “The Herd with Colin Cowherd” and gave some insight into why he wants to wait a season before accepting the job.

“Take some time to really learn, be great at what I really want to do [and] become great at thinking about the opportunity and making sure I don’t rush into anything,” Brady said.

Brady continued to echo this point.

“I think when people really bet on me; one thing about my career — whether it’s when I was drafted with the Patriots or signing in free agency with the Bucs — I want to be fully committed and I never wanted to let people down,” Brady said. “I think my biggest motivator was that.”

So it seems like Brady wants to take some time and really learn the ins and outs of broadcasting before just jumping in — which is some advice some other former player-turned-announcers could have listed to.

Brady agreed to this deal with Fox all the way back in May of 2022. The exact details of the deal haven’t been released, but the New York Post has reported that it’s a 10-year, $375 million contract, which would be the most lucrative contract in sports broadcasting history.

Based on what has been said by Fox CEO Lachlan Murdoch, it sounds like Brady will be paired with Kevin Burkhardt. He also plans to serve as an ambassador for the network and work on the promotional side of the company.

If I’m being totally honest, it’s going to be a little weird not seeing Brady in a uniform. Literally my entire life of watching football he has been there dominating in some fashion. I know a lot of people hate Brady but I’m glad that I wasn’t truly one of those people.

I always tried to enjoy the greatness he displayed on the field and the way he was able to pick apart defenses. He created a career that will be almost impossible to emulate and goes down as one of the greatest of all time at his sport.

I’m excited to see what the future holds for Brady in the booth. He has always been a very charismatic and personable guy, so I imagine he will do a fine job. He will clearly have the smarts and inside knowledge to make listening to a game interesting.

But I’m sure there will be people who are going to hate on his broadcasting skills no matter how good or bad they may be. I, for one, think Brady will have an easy time adjusting to life in the booth. But I suppose only time will tell.
