We all know the Patriots dynasty ended in a tragic and almost ugly last dance, but was it worse than we thought? Tom Curran has just under-covered an interesting comment that Tom Brady made on his former head coach, Bill Belichick.
(All quotes from WEEI.)
“The back half of the Patriots dynasty was comprised of the greatest head coach of all-time and the greatest quarterback of all-time not really liking each other a whole hell of a lot,” Curran explained. “Tom Brady once said to me in 2016, ‘weirdest guy I’ve ever met. It’s what I’ve been living for 16 years,’ and he spent three more years of it!”
It seems like the relationship with Belichick and New England quarterbacks may be something to keep an eye out for. Current Patriots quarterback Mac Jones and Belichick have had relationship concerns in the past. Is Belichick really as weird as Brady says?
“As for any lingering issues between Jones and Belichick, it was far harder to ascertain whether the needle’s moved much on that relationship at all,” Breer wrote. “There was no come-to-Jesus meeting at the end of the last season on how everything came undone.”
The Brady comment on Belichick may be odd to some, but in the past, Brady has praised his former head coach no matter what. In fact, the former QB-head coach duo is almost inseparable.
“Were there times where, you know, it wasn’t always eye to eye? Very few and far between, actually. I still envision our relationship as positive and always will,” Brady told ESPN. “[Belichick] was one of the first people to text me after we won the Super Bowl in Tampa.”
With the feuds in New England looming around every year with Belichick and his quarterback’s, it might be the best idea for him to stop stepping on their toes.
