Three things that must happen at the WWE Draft 2023

WWE is holding its yearly draft beginning on April 28th. The draft started in 2002 after WWE acquired WCW. Since then, there have been a couple of different variations of the WWE draft and the draft itself has been an off-and-on type of event.

After announcing the draft will be returning this year, it couldn’t come at a better time. WWE has undoubtedly improved its product over the course of a year, however, there are some things they need to fix. So let’s go over three things that need to happen at the WWE Draft 2023.

Stick to it:

Having a draft doesn’t mean anything if you aren’t going to stick to superstars staying on their respective brands. Too many times in the past have we gotten a wrestler who is on SmackDown just randomly appear on Raw.

If WWE is going for more of a sports atmosphere with this, then they need to go all in. Have the wrestlers stay on their specific brand. If you sign a new wrestler, announce them being signed to a show or have general managers go after talent.

This may be the most important thing that needs to happen because as we have seen in the past, the WWE draft very easily could be pointless. So it’s crucial to stick with it and not just forget about it in a month. Plus with BackLash quickly approaching and SummerSlam in the near future, the draft is extremely important.

Bring back GMs:

Personally, I enjoy having on-screen bookers for wrestling shows. It just helps make the stories make sense. And I know WWE has Adam Pearce, but they need to have a general manager for SmackDown and one for Raw. Just having a character that books the matches and is essentially running the show is important if you’re having a draft. Furthermore, if you don’t have GMs for each show who is going to be picking the superstars? Having general managers is a small detail that will have a lot to the shows and help things just make more sense.

Figure out the Title situation:

WWE has put itself in a very tricky situation since it unified the tag titles and the main-event titles.

Actually, they didn’t even technically unify them yet. It seems as if WWE doesn’t know how to split the titles seeing as if they haven’t done anything yet. The WWE draft is the perfect time to actually unify the main-event titles and debut a new one. Both SmackDown and Raw need a main-event title, it’s crucial to book the show. Since Roman won the WWE Championship, Raw essentially hasn’t had a main-event title and it has seriously hurt them.

They also need to figure out the tag title situation. They either need one set of tag titles or just separate them. However, now it is going to be tricky to separate them without unifying them. They have too many talented tag teams to have the same three teams going after the titles.

Having two sets of tag titles will give some newer teams an opportunity to win the gold and get a nice push. Regardless of what WWE chooses to do, they have to figure out the title situation at the draft because there won’t be a better time.
